I really like these muffins. I used oat bran instead of wheat bran and no molasses (not crazy about the taste). I did add another 1/4 cup of brown sugar and used a bit less raisins & nuts. For a relatively low-fat muffin, these are really tasty.

THESE WERE THE BEST. I MADE THEM 3 TIMES AND TOOK TO WORK AND THEY DISAPPEARED.THEY TASTE OF ORANGE AND THE LG CHUNK OF BANANA MADE THEM MOIST.EXCELLENT.

Well I didn't really use this recipe....I didn't have wheat bran so I crushed some raisin bran cereal and combined it with wheat germ as a substitute. And I didn't have molasses, raisins, or walnuts.....so I used a bit of maple syrup instead of molasses and added some leftover frozen raspberries. Make sure the banana is pretty ripe or else the chunks will be hard. The raspberries turned out wonderfully in the recipe!

I see how the other reviewers could want these to be sweeter--I might increase the sugar next time a bit--but I still think the flavor and chunky texture is fantastic. Will definitely make again.

I love these muffins!! Have done them twice, in both cases changed the molases with 4 tablespoons of honey and worked perfectly.

I saw this recipe on TV this morning and it looked so good I had to try it. I read the reviews first and as a result I opted to use 1/4 cup additional brown sugar since I didn't have molasses in the cupboard anyway. These were very moist and tasty. Hubby enjoyed them and he is not a bananna person at all. He said this one is a keeper!

Not one of five members of my family liked this recipe. I did not put the raisins in, which may have made it better and sweeter. Definitely not one of her better recipes which are usually quite good!

I normally love Ina's recipes but this one didn't live up to her standards for me. I found the muffin flavor very distasteful. Won't be making these again. Sorry.

These are so moist, low sugar, and when I substituted white/whole wheat flour and they kept their wonderful texture. Bet they would be great with carrots in place of bananas, as well.

I really liked this recipe. Nice and moist, the amount of orange zest and molasses is perfect. My husband isn't a fan of bran muffins, but he even liked them a lot. Very good!

I decided to make the Chunky Banana Bran Muffins, and they were amazing!!! My husband is not such a big fan of raisins, so I went easy on the raisins and added some cranberries, and also some almond extract...and they really were just incredible! I love ALL of Ina's recipes!

These muffins turned out nicely, dense and moist. Although you might be blown away by the color and smell from the molasses, don't worry - you can taste it but it isn't overwhelming. I wouldn't alter the amounts on the zest, raisins, banans and nuts - these give it the needed texture and sweetness. They aren't terribly sweet, but I would hesitate to add more sugar. Overall, a good healthy alternative to fat and calorie-laden muffins.

I really liked the chunks of banana. I had to use pecans b/c I was out of walnuts and that was OK. I liked the molasses too, they were not real sweet. I will make again.

I really liked the chunks of bananas. The molassas gave the muffins an interestingly nice flavor. Used oat bran instead of wheat bran. Kids gobbled them up.
