I agree with the other reviews. This was an outstanding recipe. Quick, easy and very tasty. I did not fry the green beans. I steamed them. I also used cashews instead of the peanuts. I can see this done with shrimp. It could be stir fried right along with the rest of the sauce. Then add the beans and serve. Yummmmm

Good for chinese or other dinner

This was a good recipe. It would be good for more than one pound, however, and the next time I do it, I think I will steam the beans rather than deep fry them - I think the sauce is that good. Question - why change from the usual cups and spoons and go into ounces? You could have said 1T+2tsp, or 5tsp - I had to go look for something that had an ounce measure on it.

fabulous!

The whole family loved this dish (easy on the chili sauce with the kids!). Skip Guy's fish and make Bobby Flay's Hoisin pork tenderloin instead. The two were great together. Will definately make again (and often). It will be my new favorite side veggie for dishes with an Asian style.

This recipe is so good and so easy to make. I was able to find the ingredients in my regular supermarket.

Not 5 stars, but not 1 star either. Just so so on this one. Unless you really like heat, cut down on the chili paste. It was just okay. Nothing to write home to mom about. I surely didn't fry the green beans...the whole purpose of eating veggies is for them to be healthy. Just blanch the beans beforehand in lightly salted water for 3 minutes.

FAB SAUCE AND LOTS OF IT-GREAT OVER RICE. TO CUT CALORIES, I STEAMED THE GREEN BEANS UNTIL JUST AL DENTE & THEN FINISHED OFF IN THE SAUCE. GOOD THE NEXT DAY, TOO.!

I have a minor complaint that the sauce was a little thin, but that would have been easily remedied with a little cornstarch. Otherwise, this was a wonderful change in how we normally have green beans, and the flavor was wonderful. I was impressed at how the hot oil frying for such a short time basically steams the green beans from the inside. They were perfectly cooked and not all that greasy since the oil was hot enough.

Why fry the beans?

Although my husband loved the fried green beans, I thought it didn't add a lot. The sauce is so outstanding that you don't really notice the beans. I've made something similar using steamed beans. Guy's sauce is yummy, and I'm guessing would taste wonderful on steamed beans as well.

Very good recipe. I omitted deep-frying the beans and it still tasted great. I've also added chopped onions and ground beef to make it a main dish.
