make as individual servings? 12/31/2007 at 10:47am User: Cynthia from Stillwater, OK User Rating: Has anyone tried preparing this in individual servings (yes I know it will make a lot)? I'm hosting a reception for 30 in a few weeks, and am thinking of preparing this in clear plastic cups for easy buffet style service. Fabulous 12/27/2006 at 12:05pm User: Deborah from Tampa, FL User Rating: This recipe is great and easy to make. However I could not find the type of cherry's that were recommended so I had to make due with cherry's that were packed in water, the cherry's were pink instead of a deep red. Deadly good 12/25/2006 at 09:43pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Made this for Christmas day dessert - it was gorgeous and everyone loved how it looked. It was way rich...i had a normal trifle bowl and really only needed about half the cream on top. The custard turned out delicious as did the cake part. I make this again for a large crowd. Extraordinarily rich..... 12/24/2006 at 01:51pm User: Julie from Celebration, FL User Rating: I seldom make desserts, but 'tis the season and after reading the rave reviews I decided to make this for a holiday gathering the other night. It's easy to make, super-duper rich (you really taste that brandy)...the crowd loved it but you can only eat so much. The family's favorite part of this was the chocolate custard & whipped cream. The remainder of the bottom layer of cake and cherries ended up getting tossed. I'd make the custard again! This should be illegal!! 12/24/2006 at 12:51am User: Nina from Tucson, AZ User Rating: WOW! The custard alone is to die for. Incredibly rich and chocolatey. I used 72% bittersweet chocolate from Trader Joe's. The cherries and cream will offset the chocolate perfectly. I can't wait to serve this to our guests tomorrow on Christmas Eve! BTW, several in our family don't like anything with alcohol in it, so I just used the juice from the jar of Morello cherries to moisten the cake. It's fabulous that way! (I dipped a piece of cake in the juice to test it out. YUM) beautiful 12/21/2006 at 11:23am User: Anonymous User Rating: The only criticism of this recipe is that she didn't tell you how long to thicken the custard. I stirred it about 8 minutes on the stove, and when it set overnight in the fridge, it was perfectly thick. Looks Great 12/17/2006 at 02:04pm User: Carol from Punta Gorda, FL User Rating: I was on foodnetwork.com looking for a dessert to bring on Christmas Day and came across this recipe. I'm embarrassed to say I have never heard of Nigella. I thought the recipe sounded great and saw that she would be on Sunday and tuned in. I think both the chili and chocolate cherry trible recipes looked terrific, and I will try both. I especially feel Nigella had a great personality, not at all uppity as stated in one of the reviews. I know she will be added to my FoodTV favorites. I am making the trifle for Christmas. Welcome Nigella. HELP ME 12/16/2007 at 08:23pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Can someone help me with this recipe? After seeing this recipe on foodnetwork.com, I decided to make this for a christmas party. Trouble started when making the custer. I followed directions and the custer never turned that dark chocolate color and did not get thick either. Please let me know if their is a trick to this part. I cooked and cooked the custered but never got it to thicken up. HELP! Yummers!!!!!! 12/15/2006 at 01:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This has got to be one of the yummiest desserts to eat and easy to make!! I am planning to use it during Chrismas. Another great recipe from nigella 10/04/2006 at 10:55am User: Leag from Chesterfield, VA User Rating: I love Nigella! I started making this recipe from her book about a year ago, and have made it since for parties in champagne glasses. Always a hit with guests So Good! 10/03/2006 at 04:34pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I never thought of making a trifle before, but what a great first one to try! Very easy to make, and I even made it a day ahead. Everyone raved about it, and now I will add this recipe to my list of regular standbys. Delicious 10/03/2006 at 10:53am User: Elizabeth from Santa Barbara, CA User Rating: So glad to see Nigella on Food Network, used to watch her on Style network but could not get her recipes after. Wish they would tell about her British home, filming seems to be done there in the same kitchen as before in her home. Chocolate & cheeries just go together well and this is a rich dessert. Nigella aleays has this voluptous style to her food. She is a wonderful addition to Food Network. yipppppeeeeee!!!!! 10/02/2006 at 07:14pm User: Lori from Meridian, ID User Rating: Hooray!!! Finally Nigella is back and on Food Network! My five stars are for that! Have made your recipes before and will definitely make these; they look delicious. So glad to see you on Food Network - am excited for your next show and to try more of your recipes! Welcome to Food Network!! lovely 10/02/2006 at 11:05am User: leslie from philadelphia, PA User Rating: i will first say that i have not prepared the recipe yet (but can hardly wait to do so). i love all things combining cherries and chocolate! i also find Nigella to be a breath of fresh air- kudos to Food Network for adding her show. i like her style and love the fact that she doesn't mutilate the english language. she is eloquent without being pretentious. also, love those measuring spoons she uses. sinfully delicious, sinfully easy... 08/03/2007 at 12:44pm User: DIANA from Florence, SC User Rating: This one is a keeper. The chocolate custard alone is enough reason to try this one. All your chocolate lover friends will adore you forever! so easy and delicious! 03/16/2007 at 03:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: this recipe is made even simpler by buying Devon Custard and adding melted chocolate to the custard. Also by buying already made chocolate pound cake. Worth the work! 02/06/2007 at 08:21pm User: Bryant from Chicago, IL User Rating: Not an easy recipe (particularly for a novice like me) and some of the items weren't readily available in the states (I substituted raspberries for the cherries), but it was delicious. You should note that the recipe serves a large crowd. mmmm... 02/03/2007 at 08:25pm User: SHEILA from Orlando, FL User Rating: Wow, what a treat, cherries and chocolate are so good together. I will be splurging on this again! I Was The Hit of The Party 02/01/2007 at 10:08pm User: Terri from Bend, OR User Rating: I made this recipe for 2 Christmas Parties that I recently attended. My dessert was the hit of the party. Both the men and women couldn't say enough good things about how good it tasted and how beautiful it looked. And I couldn't stay away from it after the party. I was so proud of how beautiful it looked and that I had actually made this myself. It is by far my favorite dessert. Chocolate Overload 01/31/2008 at 08:16pm User: null from null, null User Rating: Have made this twice with rave reviews each time. Great recipe for a crowd. Only trouble is I am left with egg whites. Can they be frozen? Other than a pavlova, what can I use them for. amazing 01/23/2007 at 11:27am User: Anonymous User Rating: :) |
