This was the first recipe from Guy's show that I've tried and I'm glad I did. This is the absolutely best garlic bread I have ever had. The mixture keeps well in the fridge so you can make a lot and have it all week long. If you don't have sun-dried tomatoes on hand, it doesn't really matter. I've made it both ways and they are both great.

Oh. My. God. This stuff is gooood. Read the reviews before I made it, and took the advice of the lady who said she only prepares enough for one meal, or else she & hubby would eat it all at one sitting. We sure as heck would've eaten the whole loaf if I'd prepared the whole loaf! The butter mixture freezes well. Next time, I'll divide it into smaller, single use portions to freeze instead of freezing the whole batch in a container.

Loved it! Did not put the sun dried tomatoes on it and it was still fabulous. I had to cut my husband off from eating it! I left the rest of the mixture in the freezer and defrost it and do how ever many pieces we need for dinner instead of the whole loaf (portion control--we would eat it all!). It is in my staple recipe now!

This garlic bread rocked! I was a little (or alot) skeptical about putting mayo on garlic bread, but it worked exceptionally well with the fresh basil and sundried tomatoes. This is now my garlic bread of choice. Also I used to use pre-grated parmesan, thanks to Guy, I am now a fresh grated parmesan girl. You Rock, Guy!!

This is killer garlic bread. Make a lot because it disappears fast. I too found that the spread made a lot. I seperated into 3 containers. I used 1 container on 2 loaves of bread. I froze the other 2 containers. I put the sundried tomatoes and parmesan on before baking. Delicious!

When I put the garlic butter on I thought it looked a bit thick and soupy for crispy bread. I was right - next time I will put the same amount of butter on more bread. The spread is delicious - it was just too thick for me. My kids loved this bread - especially the baby who screamed when we cut him off! It was an easy recipe, and better still, taught me how to roast garlic!

Oops! I misread the recipe - turned out great!

Well, I used only 1/4 of a lb (1 stick) of butter. It turned out great and my husband ate himself into a tummy ache, he liked this garlic bread so much. We will definitely make it again!

A very yummiful Garlic Bread

User: Michelle from Otsego, MN    User Rating:
Guy! Thank you for sharing this recipe! I have always made just a normal garlic bread but never a roasted one. It was great! As the reveiw above says, I was hesitant about the mayo as well, but I figured what the heck, you only live once right? I am glad I took the chance because this was seriously some of the best garlic bread I have ever made. Roasting the garlic was a snap and actually making the bread was easy. Although I did tweak the recipe a bit and broil the bread for a few minutes after to darken it up a bit more. I also wanted to say that I disagree with the post about being way too much butter spread. It says in the recipe to put half in the fridge, and if you use the long loaf of sour dough, half of the mixture is spot on to cover it nicely. But I did take the tip and froze the rest for another time. :) Gy, once again you rock!

The Best!

I have to say that I was a little leary of the mayo. That said; this was fantastic. I used it on hogies since it's what I had. You can use as much or as little of this wonderful spread as you want. It will keep in the fridge for at least a week.

good potential

This recipe needs work. As an experienced cook I think I can make it work but if you just read the recipe you would conclude that you are to use the entire recipe of garlic butter on one loaf of bread. NO WAY can you, or should you, put 3/4 lb of butter and 1/2 cup of mayo on one loaf of bread. You'll maybe use 1/4 of the garlic butter. I guess you could freeze the rest and use it another time.

I served this without the tomatoes and basil in place of garlic french bread with a standing rib roast. Everyone was doing back flips over the bread. The butter mixture made enough for to loaves of bread. I laid it on thick! Great recipe!
