True, this is not a snobby gourmet culinary dish. Who cares??? This dish was great!!!My husband and I enjoyed this just as much as some of the more "refined" recipes that we have tried from other shows. Lighten up-not every meal has to be fine dining!! Guy does not claim to be anything other that what he is- a fella that can cook! I enjoy great food and it does not always have to be complex or exotic to be considered good eating as far as I am concerned!

I increased the temperature to 425 degrees to be sure they held together after reading other comments. I also sprinkled a few bacon pieces on top. Tasted great. Everyone loved them. I like this show because of the unusual recipes. Way to go Guy!

These are really very different, and very good.I am shocked at the absolute rudeness of some of the people writing thier opinion of Guy's recipes. If you haven't tried it, don't knock it, and even if you don't like it, there is a nice way to say it.Being insulting to him or to Food network shows your bad manners. And we should all remember Food network and all the Chef's show different recipes for ALL people, not just a select few.If you see a recipe you don't like,then find one you do like and make it. I admire this young man and Food network is my favorite channel. And Guy don't let a few no-brainers make you feel bad. Keep up the great work.

These are really tasty. The only thing was the tator tots fell completely apart when I put them in the bowl. I just mashed them up a little more and made hash browns out of them. My family didn't know any different and loved them.

My family rated this all the way from a "5" to a "2." Most of them really liked the taters, but my husband gave the dish a big "thumbs down." I felt it was pretty good and is certainly an easy, no fuss dish. I think next time I will omit the garlic however.

Despite all the negative comments (mostly from people who hadn't made the recipe, just bashed it) I made these. Tater tots? What a great idea. Who cares that it's a no-brainer, not the healthiest etc. Sometimes it's fun to go outside of the box and try something different. I even served it to company, and every last tot was consumed. It's nice to be able to make something tasty from time to time that doesn't take forever to make. The grilled salad was great as well (although I forgot to buy blue cheese and I think that would have been awesome), the Bloody Mary steak had good taste but next time I think I'll kick it up another notch, or two. Don't knock it until you've tried it!

The Bloody Mary Steak show was chock full of awful recipes, and this one, Parmesan Taters, was tops on the worst list. The recipe was neither innovative nor interesting and seemed more like he stood in front of his home freezer looking for inspiration the night before taping--unfortunately for us, his inspiration was tater tots! We've all made awful meals with the residuals in our freezer and refreigerators, but we don't make a show, put it on a specialty network, and broadcast it to the world...we just never make it again! Food Network: stop putting on wannabe chefs cooking up big servings of yuck. A short-order cook is not a chef! To those below who believe only those who cook the recipe should rate it: one of the most valid ratings is reading a recipe and KNOWING you don't want to make or eat it!

As if tater tots don't already have enough beef fat in them to begin with, we need a quarter cup of additional oil? It seems as if Guy has a pretty good time in front of the camera, but he needs to change at least two things -- move his eggs out of the refrigerator door (the worst place), and learn how to pronounce BAL-samic vinegar (not BA-salmic). I also agree with losing some the the jewelry -- and what's with the sweat band? Haven't tried them yet, but the pork recipes looked really good.

I spice up my olive oil with red pepper flakes and I used this red chili oil. This was a simple side that thanks to Guy I was able to make a little more special. Thanks for including some real world recipes- we make a lot more meals that include things like tater tots than fancier more exotic ingredients.

Tater Tots? While Guy may have been the best choice from your last crop of reality show contenders, his menus and personality leave a lot to be desired. The menu that included this tater tots recipe was ridiculous--nothing innovative or mildly interesting. Who approved this menu for production? The Food Network already has a semi-homemade cooking show with Sandra Lee; we don't need to see someone else taking frozen tater tots, adding grease, and calling it cooking. Shame on you...we expect more from the Food Network.

I love your show and recipes and was impressed you chose to make tator tots. But they are tater tots and there is a limit what you can do with a tator tot. Personally I don't like them although my kids liked them. I really like your show because of the food you make and the recipes you choose-they are food people actually eat and made to taste better than the recipes we currently use more than most of the food network shows. So far there has not been any weird ingredients that are hard to find or you have to go to a specialty store to obtain (and pay for). Hope to be watching you for many years.

So maybe tater tots aren't "gourmet" enough for some. But let's face it, if you have kids or not, everyone is looking for a quick meal that tastes good. We don't all have time to spend 4 hours in the kitchen making dinner every night. I never thought of adding these flavors to tater tots but they were great! It was a fun dish and I will make it again. Way to go Guy!

Was this just a quick throw in to fill up the time slot, or is this recipe for real?? Of course people with kids under 10 would think it's great, because what kid wouldn't love tater tots with more grease and cheese? This is GROSS!!! I don't need food network for this no brainer heart attack! Housewives have been doing this trick since the invention of frozen tater tots.

But hey... each oven is subject to its own settings, and I think that made the difference. What I mean is that my Parmesan Taters turn out to be Parmesan Hash upon mixing afterwards, but everyone who tasted it said it was great. The only trick that remains is keeping the taters together when mixing, but if not, so what? Still good to eat.

These may not be healthy, but they taste great - there's nothing wrong with having tater tots once in a while. These are a great side dish with a sandwich supper... I feel sorry for the "anonymous" person who hasn't had a tater tot since they were 10 years old! I just can't imagine!

I hate tater tots! Always have...but not any more! What an incredible spin on the mundane! These were a very big hit with my family. They go wonderfully with the Grilled Bloody Mary Flank Steak, and the Grilled Romaine with Bleu Cheese and Balsamic Vinagrette. I can't wait for each of Guy's shows! Again as with the flank steak recipe, I was very surprised at the simplicity of this recipe - while not the healthiest of food choices out there, it was very quick and simple. Kudos to Guy for jazzing up a basic like Tater Tots! How very refreshing to find a cook who understands what REAL PEOPLE eat and works with that!

I watch food network constantly! But never thought about jazzing up the tater tots! These were wonderful! I was pulling for Nathan Lyons during the Food Network Star show. However, I love Guy Fieri! He explains little details that I need and want to know. I can't wait every week for his show. Congrats Guy and I am really glad that you won! You are awesome! I would like a cookbook from you. First of all, I thought the recipe was great. I know Guy personally, eaten at all of his fine establishments, and know one of his greatest talents, out of many, is his phenomenal ability to take something basic and really jazz it up. Yes they're tater tots, they're different and they're fabulous. The point of a review is to rate it after you've made it and tried it, not to bash it just because you have nothing better to do. Obviously, some viewers are insecure of their own career and personal shortcomings and feel the need to post something of no merit just to make themselves feel better but this is not the forum folks. If you've made it and hate it then rate it low, don't diss it for the sole purpose of bringing down someone more succesful and classier in a public venue to boost your own self esteem.

I notice that quite a few pretentious losers see fit to slam this recipe without even trying it just because it features tater-tots. PLEASE! Maybe you fancy yourselves the consummate gourmand, but most of us are just trying to please our families with good food and this does the job. My family really enjoyed these tots. Guy lets his culinary creativity shine in a way that is very family friendly - a rear gift indeed. So please - unless you have something constructive to say (i.e. have tried this and have a genuine comment to share) - do us all a favor and don't bother posting here.

I loved watching Guy Fieri on The next Food Network Star and I voted for him to win! But, I have to say that this recipe is a huge disappointment. Tater tots? Please. I have seen many chefs on Food Network make roasted potatoes with ingredients similar to Guy's, but with REAL potatoes. So, I tried this with quartered red potatoes. I mixed the oil and other ingredients in a bowl with the potatoes and then roasted them on a baking sheet (no raw garlic, thanks). They came out great that way!

Why is it that the people who write bad reviews don't sign their name? What a woos. Tater tots are something from almost everyone's childhood and bring back memories, both good and bad.(mean lunch ladies). An occassional serving won't harden our arteries or kill us and these are something both children and adults can share and enjoy. I prepared the entire meal for my family, adults and young grandchildren last night and all, including the kids loved it. Fast, easy and not too much time in the kitchen away from guests. Guy works in the kitchen like most of us do and so far his recipes have been family friendly. He's made a fan of me and I will be a regular.

I couldn't believe it - a Chef on Food Network using frozen Tater Tots!!! Then I happen to have a bag in my freezer and gave it a try along with the rest of the recipes from this show. While I should have cooked the taters a bit longer to make them more crispy, the taste was fabulous! My adult kids loved it!

I have made these serval times. They are really good! Super easy to make and something diffent. And jeers to all who hated this recipe. For one thing Guy is not a short order cook. He is an owner of a restaraunt. And to the girl who said what next, MICROWAVE PANCAKES? Yes When I was growing up they did have microwave pancakes with syrup in the box! Hey I don't see these people trying out for next Food Network Star!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2 year old. She lives on Tater Tots...or so it seems. I made these and she ate more than usual and now she will not eat them plain. While I love making gourmet recipes for my husband and meself, I need good dieas for easy and quick things that a toddler will like. The first day I made them, my brother was over and I had to make extra...he loved them as well. My husband does not care for frozen taters, so he did not care for them. Thanks

These are like tater tots gone fancy...and yummy! They are so good. Both my husband and I love garlic, so we love them. The only reason someone wouldn't love this recipe is if they were not big fans of garlic. I'm sure you could cut back. But these are great served with burgers, chicken, anything! We love them!
