I served them with fresh blackberries right out of the oven while they were still warm. Soaked up the juice from the berries and melted the whipped cream just a little. Life is GOOD. It wasent the ingredients, but the way the directions wanted you to combine/assemble them. (Probably the whole individual shortcakes is what through it off.) I think I'll stick with making a whole shortcake. I agree with the other contributor that they were too salty and needed more sugar but also easy to make. Delicious but more like a biscuit than what I was expecting. Next time, I will make a citrus and vanilla bean sugar to incorporate into the dough. I had a smaller cutter so my leftover shortcakes made great "bread" for mini sandwiches the next day. Texture and shape (used larger pastry cutter) was perfect. Next time I will use more sugar and table salt.
