so good and so easy! I add crushed red pepper flakes to make it a bit more spicy, but it's good without them as well!

This recipe has quickly become a favorite at my house. Everyone likes the flavor, and it's really easy to do. I love how versatile it is. I use whatever spices or cheeses I have on hand (though I love mascarpone so there's usually some in my fridge already). You can also add in just about any type of meat. If you don't feel like browning some ground beef or cooking and chopping up a chicken breast, you can just mix in a little pepperoni for extra flavor.

Perfect the way it is!

We've tried this dish both the regular way and with Italian sausage mixed in. While my parents adored it with the Italian sausage I think it killed the dish. So next time I think we'll prepare it the regular way and prepare meat on the side for them. I feel the original recipe is much much better! Very flavorful and very cheesy. So if you're a cheese lover this is the dish for you! Oh, one minor thing we changed other than the meat is that we used regular mozzarella instead of smoked. It's cheaper.

Soooo Yummy!

This meal was so tasty. We made it for guests and they all loved it. The best part was that it took about 5 minutes to make (not including the time it took to boil the water) and then I just put it in the oven.

This is now in my husband's "top three" menu selections. Both he and my sister-in-law raved about it. The smokey flavor from the cheese permeates into the whole dish and is really what makes it a winner. It was so quick and easy; definitely a new family favorite.

I absolutely loved this! I used Trader Joe's Marinara sauce (18 oz. bottle) and 19 oz. of tortellini. Because of the extra sauce and pasta I added an extra scoop of marscapone to the sauce. I baked it for only about 22 minutes. We had this for dinner with steamed asparagus. It was so easy to put together too.

This dish was so yummy and easy to make. Full of flavor and comfort! The smoked mozzarella was indeed a wonderful touch rather than just regular mozzarela. I doubled the recipe and baked it in a 9 x 13 inch pan,(I had a felling it would be a hit as a leftover dish and it was!) One time the prep work, double the enjoyment! Everything I make from Giada (her show and/or books) is fabulous! Thanks Giada, oh, and, congratulations on your upcoming little bundle...so happy for all of you!

I've made this two times already and both my husband and I LOVE IT! The first time, I found it to be a bit greasy with the smoked mozarella so the second time around, I grated it and also baked the dish with no cover on it. That way it was melty, but also a little crispy on top. Absolute HEAVEN!!!

I used frozen cheese ravioli in place of the tortellini, and though I didn't have any fresh fresh herbs, I used the dried Italian seasoning that lives in my cupboard. I also substituted regular, run of the mill shredded mozzarella, and it was still very good. Mascarpone cheese is super expensive in these parts, but it made the sauce very tasty. I would think any filled pasta would be great with this sauce and method of cooking.

Could it be any easier? This dish was so quick and easy to prepare, which works well for me after working all day. I did have difficulty finding the smoked mozzarella but simply substituted this with smoked cheddar (kept my fingers crossed that the flavor of this cheese would not be too overwhelming). It was fantastic, my family loved it. This was so good I wonder how much better it might have been with the mozzarella.

Won't disappoint!

Unlike a few of Giada's recipes, this one tastes as good as it looks. The smoked mozzerella is a MUST! Without it, the store bought pasta would be awfully bland. I also added sauteed and diced pancetta to mine. It made for a great balance to the smokey cheese. For color, I bought the mixed tortellinis which include the green spinach color. You can't taste it, but it adds interest.

If you're looking for an elegant meal that screams "I've invested hours of prep time and employed my extensive cooking expertise"...this isn't it. If you're looking for a dish that is really unbelievably tasty and lets you spend time with your guests instead of in the kitchen, I can't recommend this enough. The fresh herbs and mascarpone elevate regular marinara sauce and the smoky mozzarella added a delicious twist. For 8 guests I tripled the recipe (and had a little bit leftover, but only enough for one dinner).

I used canned pasta sauce (herb & garlic), made my own mascarpone out of cream cheese and sour cream, and used 6 cheese italian blend and shredded parmesan on top. It was SO good! Fabulous and very simple to make. Didn't even use homemade marinara - just your run-of-the-mill jar of "old world style traditional" ragu - and it was rich & delightful. The parsley provided a bit of freshness to balance the rich tomato & marscapone combo. will be making this a lot.

Really excellent recipe that is quick & easy for a wonderful Italian meal right at home! Added Rachel Ray's charred bread recipe for a side. Difficult to find smoked mozarella, but once found, have your deli slice it for you. Also did not have freshly grated parmesan so added shredded asiago instead. Put the finished recipe under the broiler on high for about a minute to give the cheese a nice crunch. Overall, enjoyable!

I agree with all other comments...easy, delicious and flavorful! My market didn't have marscapone so I used Boursin cheese instead....nice! Also, I used Artichoke Ravioli and it was tasty. I will use 3 C of sauce next time if I use the ravioli.

We used Ragu and spiced it up w/dried spices, garlic powder, and minced garlic. For cheese top, we used smoked mozz. string cheese. Each stick of string cheese = 1 oz. Very easy to peel off and top pasta. The smoky flavor was perfect.

These were super easy and great! I didn't watch this episode, so I dont know if this made a difference, but I used the smoked mozarella in the package and layed it on top and it never melted. Was I supposed to use the cheese from the deli?? Other than that, my family juts moved the mozarella to the side and it was still great!!!! Will make again!

Ok, I love watching Giada's show. This would be my second dish that I made from her show. And this one is just as good and addictive as the other one. I just found that I added 2 cups of marinara sauce when I think I should have added more because mine wasn't all that saucy..not sure if it was supposed to be. I like it to have lots of sauce. Eitherway, she has amazing, easy recipies. My husband and I loved this one!

I am not a great cook, and this was indeed a super easy recipe, but even I was not impressed. It tasted good, but it wasn't anything to write home about. I wouldn't go out of my way to try it again. I bought expensive cheese so that wasn't the problem. I did find the smokey taste from the smoked mozzarrella a bit overpowering. I would use less, or a less smokey cheese, or leave it out all together.

We just finished eating this for dinner and it was deeeeelish. So quick and easy as long as you make the marinara sauce the day before (I used Giada's marinara recipe which is also delicious). I couldn't find smoked mozzarella at my grocery store so I used regular mozzarella (Polly-O is the best) and it was still yummy. My husband had three helpings and said this is a keeper. My 12-year-old daughter liked it, too, and she has a very sophisticated palate. We'll probably be having this once every couple of weeks since it isn't exactly a low-fat food.

I have a 7 week old baby and it's been hard to cook the usual fancy meals. I always watch Giada on the food network and have made such delish dishes of hers in the past. I decided to try this as it seemed so easy. Well, it was easy and it was very good. The only 2 modifications I did was to use shredded mozzarella (not a fan of the smoked) and I used dried Italian herbs (oregano, thyme, basil and garlic) the only fresh herb I used was the parsley. Thank you for a wonderful dish, it will become a staple until I can get back to the more diffucult recipies.

At the last minute my son and his family called to say they were coming over for dinner. Happened to have the smoked mozzarella and pancetta in the house but no tortellini so I substituted ziti and added some ricotta cheese to the mix. Without telling anyone the recipe, the baked ziti was put on the table and everyone began to eat. My son was the first to ask about the smokey flavor and commented on how delicious it was. They all wanted the recipe.

The second time I found the smoked mozzerella and used a fresh chicken and prosciutt tortellini. We thought it was great both times, but weren't overjoyed with the smoky cheese flavor. Next time, I am going to go with a plain mozzerella.
