I've been using Ina's chocolate mousse recipe from her "Family Style" cookbook for a few years now, and it's been my most popular dessert (even more than her Outrageous Brownies!) With the addition of Grand Marnier, I think the recipe has achieved perfection. Serve it as-is, poured into a chocolate crust, or layered/molded on top of a solid cake layer, this is a wonderful addition to your recipe collection.

AWESOME

Thank you Ina. This is a easy to make and luscious to eat mousse. I served a scoup of the mousse with a scoup of Ina's Armagnac Vanilla Ice Cream--every bite got raves. I used a 4 oz bar of each chocolate, no sugar in the cream, and 1/8 t of orange extract in the cream because I like a strong orange flavor with chocolate. The mousse came out perfectly. Wish Ina would come up with a chocolate version of the above ice cream

delicious

This was a delicious recipe - but it seemed like I made a mess making it! It does have a strong orange flavor- but we loved that.

Is very easy to make. Takes a little bit of time. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed it and asked for the recipe.

You better like orange flavour.

I like chocolate mousse. I like Grand Marnier. But together, in this recipe, the orange flavour is overpowering if made as written. On the up side, it was very easy to make and came together very well. Were I to make it again, I'd half the amount of GM and use a third less orange zest.

Scary raw eggs

I halved the recipe and made 4 servings. I ate about 1/2 a serving that evening. It tasted good, but not great. I think chocolate mousse is better without the added orange flavor. My stomach felt a little queasy the next day. I was afraid of the raw egg so I threw the rest away.

Beats Julia Child's Recipe Hands down

The limited steps in this version of mousse au chocolat makes the whole process simple and easy. The results are superb. Smooth and delicious!

I never made mousse before, and I was suprised at how easly it all came together. The orange flavor is just right as long as you use a good chocolate.

The BEST!!!

This recipe was one of the best I have ever made. I went ahead and made it without the GM and orange zest and it still came out great. A great dessert for all ages. 5 Stars; Thanks Ina.

I made this dessert for my family and friends for Christmas. They liked it but no one could finish it. I wont make it again. It is very heavy, especially not a good dessert after a heavy holiday meal. I would recommend to serve it in very small containers. You'll have enough after a couple of spoons.

This recipe is very rich and tasty but was a lot of work. I was not real crazy about the orange taste in the chocolate either but my guests enjoyed it. I would only make it for a very special occasion when i had the time as it requires quit a few steps. It is very pretty in parfeit glasses.

Wow!

I have been looking for a good chocolate mousse recipe and THIS IS IT! I left out the orange zest and GM to make it traditionally chocolate. It was out of this world! It is a little rich, this will go a long way so serve in little ramkins. Thanks Ina-I can always count on you.

Very light chocolate mousse however it is a bit of work. I am not a particular fan of orange flavour so substituted it with Kahlua and did not add the orange zest. It turned out beautiful. I only made half the mixture and this served six.

Sooo Good!

My roommate and I made this together. It was easier I think with the both of us and was our first time making something like this. It turned out fabulous! We served it in little espresso cups. So cute and the hit of the party! We didn't think it had too much orange. I would have even liked a little more...

WOW!

Perfect Make Ahead Dessert

This is a rich and delectible dessert that really compliments a fine meal. Guests will love the balance of velvety richness of chocolate with the sunny flavor of oranges. Perfect because you can make it ahead of time! Serve family style or in martini glasses for added elegance.
