I was anxious to try this recipe, but my semi-health-conscious boyfriend, who happened to be paying for the groceries, insisted on using fat-free cool whip, fat-free devil's food cookies, and said ix-nay on the nuts. I was not looking forward to this concoction - not being a fan of anything synthetic and fat-free - although it looked very pretty (we served it in large, chilled see-through sundae bowls), but I was so pleasantly surprised at the blend of flavors that i found myself eating my fair share. Topped with granola (I know, I know, so not fat-free) I didn't miss the nuts, though I'm sure if we actually used oreos and nuts I would've died and gone to heaven.

Paula, this is sinful! But so delish. We're so blessed having these wonderful, luscious and sinful recipes from you. I hope our city treats you right when you come to visit us in late October in Fargo, ND. I hate to say I won't be able to attend, though I would DIE to be able to go. They provide wheel chairs but not electric ones which I would need to get around that large crowd that they will expect. Have a WONDERFUL time in our fair city, Paula! We love you dearly

When does one add the Oreos?

Question
09/12/2005 at 01:24pm
User: Betty from Columbus, MS    User Rating:
This sounds like something I'd love to try, but the recipe doesn't tell what to do with the crushed Oreos. I could guess, but I'd rather know for certain.

User: AMY from Hoffman Estates, IL    User Rating:
This was a easy, fast recipe. The vomiting girlfriend might have had different reasons to vomit... that's so lame to blame this dessert for food poisoning??? that's almost impossible to do-(it doesn't even contain that many ingredients) Maybe you used rotten product... ? where did you get your bananas, out of a dumpster?

I thought this would be delicious for my girlfriend, but once she ate it, she loved it. The next day when I saw my girlfriend, she looked liked she was pregnant, and i was scared. I did not know what to do. Then when she went to the bathroom to vomit, I saw that it was the desert I gave her last night.

User: Janet from St. George, UT    User Rating:
This dessert was okay, but didn't bring any raves from my family. I think there is too much whipped cream and it would be better with less. The combination of flavors was tasty, but they were too sparse in the oceans of cream.

I enjoy watching Paula's show very much. I'm guessing that your channel changer on your television doesn't work. If you sit there and watch the whole show, criticize , and then come here to air out your hate, you are indeed a very negative, hateful person. I find her southern drawl very refreshing and fun to listen to. I find your posts here very offensive.... Have you considered *anger management* classes. I think they are available in all states even in the bowels of the USA, which is apparently where you reside. Get a life will you?

I haven't tried this yet, but I will soon. In fact, I reminds me a little of a dessert I make called "Dirt" Cake where I layer whipped cream and the crushed oreos. I serve mine in a plastic lined clay flower pot and end up with the top layer being the oreos (looks like dirt!) Then I decorate it with a plastic flower stem and some gummy worms. It makes a really cute centerpiece for a luncheon and your guests never guess that dessert is staring them in the face through lunch!! Everyone I have served this to loves it. BTW, I can't believe ANYONE would blame getting sick on a recipe!!! You don't get sick from a recipe. You get sick because you either use ingredients that are spoiled or because of poor food handling. Some people . . . :(

So Yummy Good !

After preparing this Banana Dessert I don't think I'll make the long time it takes to ever make the Ole' fashion mama's Banana Pudding AGAIN! In fact I'm going to make sure that I send my 82 year old mother, Paula's Recipe. My mom has a long time tradition now, of always making the family members the ole' fashion banana pudding for their Birthday's instead of a cake(s). She even goes so far as to put Birthday candles on top of the PUDDING. Can you believe, her? Smile... It's high time for a new change !! I know she'll love it, too !!

My grandkids loved this dessert......it has everything kids (and adults) love besides being easy to make! I lived in the South for many years AND most Southerners are great lovers of sweets of all kinds...just like this! I can't believe one reviewer does not think Paula is for real.....lots of jealousy going on there!

You could make this in your sleep it's so easy, and YUMMY. I love easy. But don't like Oreos, so I used Nilla wafers instead, just lightly broken, not pulverized. I'm going to use another reviewer's suggestion and try this with strawberries. Thanks Paula!

First,I have to tell you that I believe Paula Deen is the sweetest lady and I mean that in every way. That being said, this dessert has just about all my favorite things:bananas,Oreos, chocolate syrple, ice cream, whipped cream...you get the idea, and with a prep time of less than 15 minutes, you have no excuse not to make this instead of grabbing a prepackaged snack cake!

So easy and delicious
