Mud Pie 12/30/2005 at 03:30pm User: Athena from Astoria, Queens, NY User Rating: Looked good but tasted rather plain Crowd Pleaser 12/30/2005 at 02:48pm User: Katie from Charlotte, NC User Rating: I added the carmel on the middle and top layers, and then also added chocolate sauce to decorate the top. Looked and tasted wonderful! Easy and Refreshing 12/05/2006 at 09:06pm User: Rebecca from Kent, OH User Rating: Made this for my boyfriends birthday in July. I was easy to make in my non-air conditioned kitchen and was so cold and refreshing to eat. He loved it, and so did I. I skipped simmering the caramel with the bourbon and just stirred it together, and it had a great taste. yummy 11/06/2005 at 09:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Brought this over to the future in laws, after we left they IMed me to tell me AGAIN that they loved it :) Score 1 for the girlfriend :) yum 10/24/2007 at 01:38pm User: null from null, null User Rating: Great Recipe. Too much work 10/10/2006 at 12:40pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Too much work for something that tasted "just OK" Seemed like a big waste of time 09/13/2006 at 09:11pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Not really what I expected from this show. Hard bits 07/21/2007 at 01:05pm User: Mike from Spring, TX User Rating: The chocolate chips were too hard compared to the rest of the silky texture of the caramel and ice cream. Even our children did not like the dish and said it was "too crunchy". Would try substituting slightly thicker layers of caramel and leave out the bits that were hard on the teeth and overpowered the dessert. The word 'Mud' is not the best word to use to describe this dessert. Peanut Butter 07/15/2006 at 03:07pm User: Anonymous User Rating: It was pretty good but I used peanut butter icing recipe instead of caramel and I think it made it much better!! Nothing to write home about 06/25/2006 at 09:21pm User: Siyaka from Naples, FL User Rating: I have had better Mrs. Smith's Pies. Not Praiseworthy 06/23/2006 at 12:10pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This pie is just not praiseworthy. Perhaps we have higher expectations. Mrs. CRT, Columbia, MD. very good 05/28/2008 at 05:20pm User: Anonymous User Rating: this was very good and wasnt as hard to make as i expected, for those who thought the choc chips were to hard, dont put on the choc chips till ready to serve on indivual slices as i did, it wa really good. thanks sandra Great Pie 04/25/2007 at 12:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Everyone loved it!! Great for youth church get-together 04/01/2007 at 09:27pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I could not find the coffee ice cream at my local store; I used a fudge ribble instead. I made 6 pies for the youth group at church and they loved them. They are so easy to make. My son requested I add a cherry to each slice. Even our 50yr. old preacher liked it. Yummy!! 03/28/2007 at 04:45pm User: Anonymous User Rating: The recipe is a little time consuming but very much worth the work. The pie is awesome!! Excellent Pie 03/13/2007 at 01:45am User: Anonymous User Rating: This LA Mud Pie is just wonderful - I used 1/2 coffee ice cream and 1/2 chocolate. yum! good if you have low expectations 03/07/2006 at 06:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I made this last weekend when my in-laws came to visit. It took a lot of time but looked very nice. My father-in-law was particularly interested in the recipe. He summed it up like this: "So you put ice cream in a premade pie shell. Big deal." Good point, dad. I don't know why I expected them to be so impressed. It is was it is. Delicious! 03/07/2006 at 04:17pm User: Anonymous User Rating: My eight year old daughter and I made this pie yesterday and absolutely loved it! It was easy and fun and tasted delicious!! It disappeared in less than 24 hours. Tasty Desert! 03/06/2006 at 08:54pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Delicious. My husband & I loved it. Too much work 03/06/2006 at 06:37pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Took a lot of time and the taste wasn't anything special. Much easier to buy a cake. My local grocery store makes excellent ice cream cakes. They aren't that popular in early March though. LOL In my opinion this was way better than storebought 03/03/2006 at 11:04pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I know this because it didn't last long. I've tried buying storebought pies in the past, and I always end up throwing some of it away. This was very easy for me to make too. well worth it! It sure doesn't taste like mud :) 03/03/2006 at 08:57pm User: Anonymous User Rating: chocolatey is more like it :) Took forever to make 03/02/2006 at 04:36pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Took hours to make and in the end was not even as good as store-bought. Big Disappointment. Time consuming 03/02/2006 at 09:50am User: BQ from New Orleans, LA User Rating: Really not worth the effort. Baskin Robbins makes a much better cake and if I'm too busy to drop in, I just call my local grocery store and have them make one to order. It's much faster and the cost is about the same. It also looks much nicer which can be important for special occasions. This Mud Pie recipe is almost as good as the one I have that take forever to make 03/02/2006 at 12:35am User: Anonymous User Rating: 5 stars for taste and ease of prep Gosh this was chocolately and good 03/01/2006 at 10:27pm User: Anonymous User Rating: my Dad loved it. Thanks! Mediocre at Best 03/01/2006 at 04:03pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We were totally underwhlemed by this pie. Too much,,,,,, 02/28/2006 at 09:30pm User: Elizabeth from Yuba Cty, CA User Rating: The frozen choclate chips are waaaaay too much for this recipe. Try it without the chips and you might save a few teeth..... For pete's sake 02/28/2006 at 01:13pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Add more bourbon to make this palatable. Other wise it is just another ice cream sundae n a crust. My thoughts. 02/28/2006 at 10:37am User: Arnold from Independence, OH User Rating: Easy to make and reminds me of our times in St Thomas, and The Chart House. nothing more than icecream in a crust 02/27/2006 at 07:08pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Nothing to write home about. I thought the booze would kick it up, but alas, it was still boring Not as good as Baskin Robbins 02/26/2006 at 03:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Ended up being more trouble than fighting the traffic to Baskin Robbins and was just as expensive to make. And the results weren't that impressive. haven't made this yet 02/25/2006 at 11:33am User: ARLENE from rising sun, MD User Rating: but with the addition of caramel, bourbon, nuts and chocolate chips it HAS to have more flavor than both Baskin-Robbins or Carvel ice cream cakes which are just plain old ice cream and chocolate crumbs. (I've had both ) How boring! Poor imitation of a Baskin Robbins cake 02/24/2006 at 12:25pm User: Anonymous User Rating: About as expensive and a lot more work too. We like Carvel better 02/24/2006 at 11:04am User: Nancy from Everett, MA User Rating: This was not worth the work WHY DO ALL THE GOOD REVIEWS SOUND LIKE THEY WERE WRITTEN BY THE SAME PERSON? 02/23/2006 at 03:44pm User: Anonymous User Rating: That seems fishy to me. This pie was OK. Nothing special. Bout as good as you'd buy from an ice cream store. A 3. Not that bad 02/16/2006 at 10:06pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Better than the chocolate-covered salad, anyway! good and chocolate 02/16/2006 at 07:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: good dessert! Good, but not exceptional 02/07/2006 at 09:34am User: Ted from Arlington, MA User Rating: Easy to make, but no more than 3 stars. We've had much better ice cream pies than this one. Blue ribbon Mud pie! 02/05/2006 at 09:14pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This would win a prize from our family! Divine Indulgence! 02/03/2006 at 10:25pm User: Jane from Wyoming, MI User Rating: My friend had a dinner party and made this for dessert. It was to die for! I just had to have the recipe for myself! This pie is too good for it's own good 02/02/2006 at 10:12pm User: Anonymous User Rating: It has a very short life span once you show it to people. it was alright 02/02/2006 at 08:41pm User: Anonymous User Rating: We call 'Arkansas Mud Pie' around here though. My guests adored this dessert 02/01/2006 at 09:14pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Thanks! Everyone loved it. Baskin Robbins ice cream cakes are good too, but that wouldn't be semi-homemade!!! That would be completely-not-homemade :) Thank you!!! 01/29/2006 at 02:46am User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a great easy Mud Pie!! desserts just don't come any better or easier 01/28/2006 at 07:09pm User: Anonymous User Rating: whoa this was good. delectably chocolatey 01/28/2006 at 12:13am User: Anonymous User Rating: yummo! Baskin Robbbins is just as good 01/25/2006 at 05:07pm User: Dyannna from Seal Beach, CA User Rating: And a lot less work! LOL Expected better 01/23/2006 at 02:16pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I expected it to be a whole lot better than it turned out. pie 01/22/2006 at 09:40pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a very good rich dessert! Decadent and delicious 01/21/2006 at 11:52pm User: Anonymous User Rating: With ingredients like this I knew it would taste awesome!!! This is so easy to make too. Thank you awesome recipe! 01/18/2006 at 10:41pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This blew my family's tastebuds away! It was a huge hit. Thanks :) |
