I substituted white rice for the wild w|seasoning. Then added extra poultry seasoning...very nice, soooo easy

Surprisingly Good!

I was very skeptical about this... I normally never use boxed anything, but decided to give this a try as we'd just moved and I've been so busy that something had to give. I expected this to be "okay", but nothing special. I was pleasantly surprised however as the rice was absolutely delicious, took no time at all and was so easy to make.

Way too salty

It was still missing something, but only those Cajuns know what. That said, this is a keeper!

We didn't care for this recipe because it came out very soft and mushy like mash potatoes and it was also quite salty. Amy, Vero Beach.

HORRIBLE

Horrible, salty, nasty rice. You're better off buying some from Popeye's.

This was not one of her best

I was surprised at how bad this was

I've never had authentic dirty rice (neither has my husband) so we had nothing to compare it with. It was just plain bad by itself.

It is a good quick recipe for a side dish. Even my husband ate some and he's a picky eater.

rice that tastes like stuffing!

This dirty rice is a savory delight!

authentic?
03/02/2006 at 05:39pm
User: Louise from Sun City, CA    User Rating:
Don't know or care if this was authentic or not, I thought it was yummy. In regard to other reviews on S.L's recipes, I don't understand why people have to be so rude. It amazes me how nasty some people are to her. Hope she's not very thin-skinned.

If you want easy, delicious dirty rice pick up a box of Zatarains

This is a salty, miserable imposter.

This is not dirty rice

It is what it is-rice a roni with sausage and grease.

And it had a weird, bitter off taste to it. We thought it was horrible.

This is not a cajun recipe

User: kathy from new orleans, LA    User Rating:
Look for a nother site featuring a real New Orleans chef for a good dirty rice recipe. This one is absurd.

Good recipe...real review.

User: Melissa from Tracy, CA    User Rating:
I liked this recipe. This review is not a fake...I have actually made this recipe and me and my husband liked it and will make it again. I like to read the reviews that people leave because they usually help me being that I don't have lots of money to waste on a bad recipe. I don't appreciate the stupid reviews that some people have made here. They obviously have something against SL but they shouldn't use this space to pick on her, that is not what it is for. Jealousy is a bad habit. Keep your head high Sandra!

NOT AT ALL CAJUN

MAKING RICE-A-RONI 50 DIFFERENT WAYS DOES NOT MAKE ONE A CHEF

Not a very good side dish.

Mine turned out greasy

MMMMMmmmm I love dirty rice!

Nasty and salty. And far from authentic. Zatarains is much, much better and cheaper and easier, too.

authentic and delish!

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
:) delish definitely!

Balance out the saltiness with a salad
02/08/2007 at 10:23am
User: Melissa from Nashville, TN    User Rating:
It is pretty salty, but I really like the flavors and will probably make it again and try to use a less salty seasoning.

I just care about the taste
02/05/2006 at 09:13pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I have never tasted traditional Dirty Rice before, so I had nothing to compare this recipe's authenticity to. This was so good though, I have a feeling I would like it better than the authentic dish. And if I didn't I wouldn't care if it wasn't authentic anyway. :)

Serve it with a light salad
02/03/2006 at 11:29pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
It's great. You don't even need to make a "main dish" to serve with this rice. It's very filling and has all the elements of a meal.

great rendition of dirty rice

I don't think semi-homemade recipes are ever "authentic"? This tasted super, which is why I'm glad I made it. It's a keeper!

Didn't taste authentic

Not authentic at all, but even so it tasted pretty bad. Was salty.

Not what I was expecting

Tasted like something you might serve for breakfast or brunch. Not terrible but not a good accompanyment to my dinner.

A little salty

User: Dorothy from Columbus, GA    User Rating:
A little salty. But it was really good. Maybe I need to try a lower sodium wild rice mix.

WHAT A WEIRD TASTE!
01/26/2006 at 02:59pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
Skip this and buy a box of Zatarain's dirty rice. This is just a wild combo of seeming random ingredients that resemble dirty rice as much as I resemble Sandra Lee.

Wont try it again
01/25/2006 at 05:12pm
User: Anonymous    User Rating:
I have to admit that it was not as good as I thiught it would be. Probably won't make it again

never tried "dirty" rice before
