Very good 11/06/2005 at 06:33pm User: Michael from Granby, MA User Rating: Well as long as you don't insist on them tasting like white potato fries, they are good. The jicama has a very sweet taste. They remind me more of sweet potato fries. The seasoning mix needed some additions. I added black pepper and cayenne pepper. Definately make them again. Jicama Fries 11/05/2006 at 01:19am User: Debra from Delhi, CA User Rating: We did this along with the Chili Burgers and it went great with that. Not too bad 08/06/2007 at 05:25pm User: Athena from Santa Clarita, CA User Rating: You definitely can't cut these like regular sized fries. The insides are still hard and the outsides burn. As matchsticks they're really tasty though! Great Idea 05/28/2005 at 09:27am User: Anonymous User Rating: This receipe was simple but outstanding for those of us on low carb diets that are trying to avoid white potatoes but miss the taste of french fries. My only future thought would be to maybe do them in the oven and spray them with olive oil as opposed to using so much oil in a skillet. I know it won't be quite the same but the jicama has such a wonderful flavor I don't think it will matter. Bad! 05/16/2005 at 04:56pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Bad! Really bad! Enough so that I have to start rethinking this whole low carb thing. SO GOOD 03/25/2006 at 08:14pm User: gwen from sun lakes, AZ User Rating: We make these ANY time we crave french fries. We made them in a fryer and sliced the jicama into REALLY thin fries...that makes them cook faster. Wait until they are browned and softened. Most of the time people almost finish them by the time I finish making it all (even people NOT on low carb love 'em) Worth a second try! 03/19/2005 at 05:49pm User: PAULA from Mesquite, NV User Rating: Not exactly like BBQ chips, but these have a nice spicy sweet crunch. Great to try if you're craving something crunchy. I don't think I left them in the oil long enough. I would try these again. |
