I made this for my family, and they were VERY disappointed. My mother even threw up. She said it was equatable to making just-barely-rancid meat... it is consumable food, but it's disgusting and makes you want to gag. Yeah. Enough said. :(

great compliment to the shrimp

I made the lemon spaghetti for the first time tonight, along with the Shrimp Fra Diavolo. My husband and I thought that the two went together very well. I used Barilla Plus pasta and did not think that using a multi-grain pasta detracted from the dish. I did cut the sauce ingredients roughly in half, as the pasta package did not contain a full pound. I will definitely make this again.

Giada's lemon spaghetti is a very special sauceless pasta. She uses just the right ingredients to bring out the pasta as it was meant to be. The flavors are very fresh, light, and mild. It is perfect with a light meat cutlet when one wants a special meal that is still healthy and will not completely stuff you. It is extremely flavorful and very easy to prepare--a wonderful dish.

Served this as a side dish with grilled chicken that was basted with butter and fresh basil. The fresh basil and grated lemon zest over the top of the pasta looked beautiful, and the flavors married very well with the grilled chicken and grilled vegetable salad we had also prepared. Giada's recipes are always so easy and delicious, and this was no exception. I had always wanted to try lemon spaghetti, and am so thankful for this recipe. I will certainly make it again. what a simple and delicious dish!

The dish was a bit too bitter from the lemon. My wife and I did add some wine and freshly grounded pepper which tasted better to us. For our taste, we would cut down on the lemon, maybe up to 1/4 cup, and add more wine.

Light enough to pair with any meal or flavorful enough to eat alone. This recipe is so wonderful. It is very important to use quality parm though, and have plenty of lemons on hand. I find that it often takes more than she says. It just isn't the same without fresh basil either. I've used many types of pasta with this recipe and all are fabulous!

I really love this dish. I think it is refreshing and light. My husband likes it a lot too, but I have made it for others who are indifferent to it. You have to like lemon. I use less basil. The batch is REALLY big. I half it for two.

I cooked this for myself, put the leftovers in the refrigerator and when I came back for more...the WHOLE bowl was gone! My 15 year old nephew ate the whole thing. I had to make it again the next day and everyone else in the house was floored. It is great with boxed spaghetti, but even better with fresh pasta or semi-fresh pasta!! Awesome!!!

Giada what were you thinking??? This was the grossest thing I've ever tasted! My whole family almost threw up. For one, it smelled like throw up when it was being cooked. It tasted like throw up as well. Lemon does not go with those other flavors. At least not that much lemon! I would not recommend wasting the time or money to make this recipe.

Being Italian...we eat a LOT of pasta in our home. Since I decided to try the Chicken Parmesan recipe from this same episode...why not try the pasta to accompany it...right? It was delightful. Since I was making this on the fly, I substituted elbow macaroni for the spaghetti. This dish was delicious, easy and had a delightful zip to it over my traditional cream laden alfredo sauce. The taste was fresh and savory and worked well with the chicken parmesan. Yummy!

ok, this recipe was interesting...and by interesting, i mean disappointing and gross. if you must try this, please, cut the amount of lemon juice in 1/2 and only use 1 tsp. of lemon zest....if not, it's way too lemony for pasta. trust me, the oil and parmesean don't won't through the tartness enough to make this palatable.

I bought cooked shrimp and marinated it for a few hours in lemon juice with alittle sea salt and pepper.Right before I tossed the fresh lemon juice into the cooked spaghetti I heated the shrimp and the lemon juice up atittle to take the chill off. Topped the spaghetti with it and it was wonderful. CANT WAIT TO MAKE IT AGAIN!!

I made this recipe with whole wheat pasta and I won't make that mistake again. The whole wheat pasta gives it a very different flavor than I'm sure is what intended. To state it simple, it was horrible. I will try this recipe again and use regular pasta. I'm taking the blame for this one.

This turned out beautifully~ just be sure to adjust all liquids to your taste! My guests really enjoyed the fresh, bright flavor and it was so easy. Really tasty as an accompaniment to wild salmon! I don't recall if the recipe called for a bit of fresh garlic but I added a bit of grated garlic to the olive oil, while the pasta boiled and it added some nice depth and spiciness to the flavor. We had a bit left over and it tasted lovely the next day!

This dish went perfect with veal Milanese (another Giada recipe which is very good) you only need two lemons and I used a whole cup of FRESH grated parmesean which is a must since there are so few ingredients. I was afraid my husband wouldn't like it because I thought it might be too lemony so I warned him but he said he didn't think it was and our guests loved it! The kids however loved the milanese but hated the pasta it was too lemony for them.

SO good. The lemon was more tart than I was expecting, but fantastic and fresh nonetheless! I added some Italian parsley to the basil, and threw in some feta and a touch of heavy cream at the last minute (I halved the recipe and was eyeballing all the measurements). SUPERB. Even better the second day, when the flavors have melded together and the lemon has calmed down a bit. Definitely going to make this one again!

This recipe sounded so easy and so delicious! Well, it was easy, but the lemon was a bit overpowering even for a lemon lover and sour food maniac like myself. I much prefer Giada's Fiery Angel Hair recipe. It's just as easy, not quite as lemony, and has a nice spicy kick to it that I enjoy. So lemon lovers that were disappointed by this, try the Fiery Angel Hair. I also don't suggest using the 3 lemons as the recipe suggests..I got just over a half cup of juice from 2 lemons. It was still sour.

I fell in love with this recipe. It's so quick and easy to prepare, and the flavors were perfectly balanced for my palate. We added sliced, grilled chicken breast that was marinated in lemon infused olive oil, lemon, garlic and basil. It was so creamy and tangy that we could've eaten it all in one sitting. I couldn't wait until lunch the following day to dive into the leftovers! If you adore lemon, you'll love this recipe.

Yummy!

The spaghetti has a wonderful light lemon flavor. The stronger scent suggests that the taste is stronger but it has just the right amount of flavoring.

After watching Giada make this recipe on her show I was intrigued by the combination of lemon with pasta. I made the recipe that night and was extremely pleased. What a fantastic way to give pasta a light and refreshing taste. I served it with broiled chicken breasts with a lemon herb seasoning. This is a definite keeper!

I made this for the first time last night w/o watching the show. (I'd love to watch Giada prepare it!) The lemon was overpowering, but I still liked it and think this dish has potential...especially if I make it correctly!!!! =) I forgot to reserve the pasta water, so I added saltwater. So I'm not sure how much that affected the dish. I knew it would be way to lemony for my husband, so I added chopped tomatoes and cubes of mozzerella cheese. That toned down and complimented the lemon really well. But I'd like to make it again with the pasta water to see if that helps. If not, I'll keep experimenting until I get it right!

I saw her recipe today after making almost the same recipe last night-except since my husband and I are trying to cut oils due to a need to lose weight, I made it with a light store bought Alfredo sauce (Ragu-5g fat per 1/4 cup) in place of the oil. I added a pretty good amount of the freshly ground pepper, and had grated in lemon rind too, although I am not sure how much, and put more fresh ground cheese on the table. Served it with sauteed (with spray olive oil)Basa fish with lemon juice and a fairly hot spice blend, and sauteed zucchini and garlic.

...and I love lemon, but it overpowered the cheese and the pasta in my opinion. If I made it again, I would use less lemon. I did use whole wheat pasta so maybe the flavors didn't meld as nicely as they would have with a regular pasta. I tossed in some italian veggies too, but I still wasn't thrilled.

Pasta is great in and of itself and the "sauce" is tangy and different and delicious. I only added some red pepper flakes for a little spice, but i am sure it will/would be teriffic the next time i make it if i were to leave it out. I will definitely make this again soon and i am sure this will be fantastic this summer as a lite dinner wher it is warm! Thanks again Giada for yet another wonderful recipe...we love you and the show!! Michele

I know this is "LEMON" spaghetti, but the lemon flavor was WAY too overpowering. You may as well eat a lemon. I kept out the zest and added more salt, pepper, and parmesan cheese. It toned down the severe lemon flavor and made it a much less lip puckering and enjoyable. I served it with chicken and it was very good.

I have done that after making the recipe a few more times and it's been just perfect! It's now a go to recipe when I want something fast and easy...I add grilled shrimp and vegetables sometimes to get a more complete meal...I bet it'd be great with her lemon chicken though! Anyway...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
