Sweet as can be! 12/09/2004 at 12:19am User: CHARMAINE from Upper Marlboro, MD User Rating: this recipe was very sweet, but it was good. my husband and mother loved it. I would cut back some of the sugar and my aunt who is wonderful baker suggested to add 1 tablespoon of crisco to the batter to help maintain the moisture. After about 1 day or so it was spongy and a little dry. OH YA! 09/24/2006 at 03:16am User: DAN from FULLERTON, CA User Rating: I JUST LOVE STARWBERRY SHORTCAKE! THIS MAKES ME WANT SOME NOW! It was a huge hit. Some even had seconds. Big Hit!!! 05/30/2004 at 11:04pm User: LINDA from Clarksville, MD User Rating: May 2004 I made a point to pick fresh strawberries this year and this recipe was an ideal way to showcase the strawberries and share such a wonderful recipe. I added two types of strawberry liquor to the recipe and tripled it. I got a full bundt cake and three loaf pans out of the combination. The texture and flavor was exceptional and three different friends and neighbors agreed! The recipe was easy to make and multiple. The cake was very moist, but solid (not crumbly) and once you took a bite you could not stop eating it! I highly recommend this wonderful recipe. Wonderful! 05/28/2006 at 12:22pm User: KAYE from Oxnard, CA User Rating: This is probably the very best Strawberry Shotcake I have ever eaten! The Grand Marnier enhances the strawberries brillantly! That's also the reason I call it "For Adults Only..." I did add the berries earlier than recommended as I wanted the juices to soak into the cake; I added the whipped cream prior to serving. Next time, I'll layer the whipped cream too (like a trifle). This generously serves 12. It's a winner! Loved it! 05/11/2006 at 12:37pm User: kris from forestville, MD User Rating: This was really easy to make and absolutely delicious! The cake tasted like a light pound cake and everyone loved it. Gotta love Emeril! The Life of a Party 02/01/2008 at 12:52pm User: Michelle from allentown , PA User Rating: This cake has been one of the hits at three parties that I have made it for. And every time I make it, the cake becomes better at each time. Once I substituted orange juice like Sandra Lee stated in one of her shows for this cake, since my mom cannot have alcohol and it was just as good. I did cut back on some of the sugar the last two times, but it was great! Excellent shortcake 02/01/2006 at 12:31pm User: Sharon from Onaway, MI User Rating: I only make the shortcake and leave out the liquor. Moist and freezes like a dream |
