Soooooo Gooood!

User: Amy from Las Vegas, NV    User Rating:
I just finished making these and oh my goodness, they were awesome! It didn't take much time at all, especially since instead of making my own jerk seasoning, like Rachel does, I just added a prepared dry jerk seasoning. The salsa was the perfect finishing touch on these. I used both mango and papaya. I'll definitely be making these again and again!

These are so good everyone wanted seconds. Glad I doubled the recipe. The Papaya Salsa made a great topping too!

The only changes I made was reducing the amount of allspice and nutmeg to half the listed amount and I used mango instead of papaya. What a terrific burger and salsa. My husband and I both love this recipe and will be making these frequently.

I made a smaller portion (only 2 burgers) than the recipe called for so I had to adjust the seasonings. Was surprised how much flavor these had. I forgot to buy scallions so I used shallots. I also borrowed another reviewer's idea of adding bacon. I know that makes this rather healthy meal a bit less healthy, but I only purchased a couple of individual slices of applewood smoked bacon less I be tempted to eat more. I also added a slice of pepperjack cheese and the whole burger really came alive. Cooked them in a skillet but finished them off on the grill. Served with a couple of rings of grilled pineapple as a sidedish. A nice splurge with the bacon and I didn't feel so guilty since it was a turkey burger and not beef.

Not bad.. but not wow, either

I think that this is my first RR recipe, and although the spice mix sounded great, it didn't really give the oomph of flavor that I thought it would. My main problem was that the burgers fell apart on the grill! I don't know why this happened, but it ended up becoming a hassle to move it from the outdoor grill to the oven, so that I could get it to cook through without completely crumbling. It did taste ok, but didn't make me say "mmmmm". :-) I sub'd mango for papaya (those things are expensive!), and I enjoyed it - would make again. I'd try the burgers again, but on a grill pan on the stove, but with the dry spice mixture of it, rubbed on the outside of the burgers, too. I served this bunless, with roasted, sliced yams on the side.

Loved this!!

This recipe is awesome. I have never purchased a Papaya but the salsa turned out yummy, it is a must with these burgers. I cooked these on my indoor grill and they were perfect. My entire family enjoyed, will definately make again.

I didn't have the ingredients on hand for the salsa, but next time I will make sure that I do. These burgers were 1)easy; 2)delicious and 3)given a thumbs up by my husband who opted for a regular burger tonight (too bad!). Try this, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait to try w/the salsa and I love the suggestion of grilled pineapples as an alternative. Thanks.

Different but delicious!

I cooked this tonight for my boyfriend and he absolutely loved it, salsa and all! I really enjoyed the burgers but I thought the salsa was really different...but I like it! I couldn't see children liking the salsa...it was very spicy. I thought the burgers were moist and delicious!

Love this one. It is a bit time consuming, not sure how Rachel does it in 30 minutes. I can't, but it is well worth the effort. I use mango's not papaya's. Kid's love it too, but no onions for them.

Great Burgers!!

User: Debra from Indianapolis, IN    User Rating:
The first time I made these, they were a bit on the dry side--I use the very lean ground turkey breast. I didn't care much for the salsa. The next time I made these, I decided to buy some of the cut up frozen onion and green pepper mix (A time saver that I'm sure Rachael would be ok with). I added the onions and peppers when they were about 3/4 defrosted. The burgers came out real juicy. We eat the burgers on top of some lettuce (no bun). Wasabi mustard on the top was my alternative to the salsa and it gives the burger an interesting additional flavor. A co-worker made these and her family loved them. Another great burger recipe from Rachael.

Fantastic Turkey Burger.

User: Anastacia from Redondo Beach, CA    User Rating:
I have worked in the food service industry for years and I have never met a turkey burger I really liked - until this one. While it is a little more elegant and upscale for what most people think of when they think of burgers, my kids still loved them. I also have prepared as little mini burgers with the salsa on the side for appetizers - fantastic , flavorful and moist which is hard to accomplish when working with ground turkey. It's become a family favorite!

Good, but not great

Overall, these burgers were very good. Watch the ginger, it took over the taste of the entire burger. Also, not sure why these are "jerky" burgers...but this is still a good recipe for turkey burgers.

SO spicy and SO moist and SO flavorful--I was astonished at how much I loved them! And the papaya salsa was delicious--just a little twist on the mango, but one that made a big difference. I'll make this one again and again. A stroke of genius, Rachael. Thanks bunches!

I didn't think that I would like the Papaya salsa on the turkey burger, but I ended up loving it! It's also great with chips. My husband kept saying how tasty the burger was. I was so UNexcited looking at my ground turkey that I needed to use up for dinner one night. I found this recipe and decided to give it a whirl. AWESOME!! I added fresh cilantro to the mix instead of thyme. I'm also not hip to papaya (or mango), so I skipped the salsa and grilled some pineapple slices. WOWSERS! What a great BBQ alternative! With grilled buns, some melted cheese, and a lil bit of low-fat mayo, I ate the heck outta these bad boys! Don't forget that lime squirt at the end!

We've tried this recipe 3 times now and it's always good. The ingredient mix sounds strange but give it a try. A few changes we made: we used mango instead of papaya for the salsa and serve it on the side because the sandwich gets too thick to bite. These grill great outside too - spray the grill and they won't stick. This is a regular in our rotation now. Thanks Rachael.

I read all the reviews before making this recipe and guess what? This recipe was all that everyone raved about. Great flavor, texture, sweet, hot, easy, great presentation, etc., etc. Everybody loves them. The salsa can top any number of main meats and fishes. The salsa could be mango or pineapple too. So healthy and so versatile...what a meal! And you can do this anytime of the year for a great change of pace. Keep those innovations coming Rachael.

I've never had a turkey burger that wasn't dried out until last night. These are by far one of the best tasting and easiest recipes I've ever come accross. Even my husband had seconds. I substituted mango in the salsa, and it was wonderful with tortilla chips as well. My husband has already requested this again for next week.

As everyone knows turkey burgers are generally dry. When I was mixing the ingredients with the turkey I didn't think there was going to be enough moisture. They weren't super juicy but they tasted awesome! They weren't really dry either. I did substitute mangoes for the papaya in the salsa. The salsa is a must with these burgers. Terrific blend of flavors. The ginger is great in there. Thanks Rachel. Your are the burger queen!
