5 Star Tomato Sauce 07/01/2008 at 05:15pm User: SUE from Orangevale, CA User Rating: Giada's tomato sauce is so easy to make that I haven't bought any spaghetti sauce since I discovered it and it is absolutely delicious. This is an outstanding recipe. Sue Aimes Orangevale, CA Very tasty! 06/13/2008 at 09:07pm User: Laci from Palm Bay, FL User Rating: I made this for dinner tonight. The taste was great. However, the recipe didn't seem to call for enough sauce! 3 cups was not quite enough. The pasta was still pretty dry. Next time I will double the amount of pasta sauce. Delicious 09/11/2007 at 04:17pm User: karla from mount vernon, WA User Rating: I loved this recipe, mostly because it was close to the one I have been making for years but just a couple added ingredients increased its appeal greatly! Delicious 07/11/2007 at 09:02pm User: Anonymous User Rating: A fantastic blend of all the right ingrediants. Spot on! Absolutely Delicious 06/27/2007 at 10:36pm User: Sandi from Newark, CA User Rating: Whereas mine did not look as beautiful as it was pictured, it tasted absolutely delicious. It was easy to follow the recipe. perfect 06/05/2007 at 06:51pm User: Anonymous User Rating: the recipe is very easy and even if you don't have all the ingredients, it's still tasty. NO MORE STORE BOUGHT SAUCES1 05/04/2007 at 03:13pm User: Liche from McAllen, TX User Rating: This was so good. I actually was looking for a basic spaghetti sauce and did a random search and found this recipe. (I was too lazy to go to the store to buy the jar sauce.) I'm glad I made this. I'll never buy sauce from the store again! I'll always keep these ingredients in my pantry. My husband just loved it. I will make this sauce again and again. Thanks, Giada. As usual, your recipes are 5 stars! :) tasty and fast 04/22/2007 at 12:30pm User: CASH from san bernardino, CA User Rating: what an easy and fast recipe for a very good sauce. eveyone loved it. Too Much Olive Oil 04/09/2007 at 08:19pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I have tried several of Giada's recipes and they were all delicious. Her recipes, however, use way too much olive oil. Less than half would be more than sufficient. I'm famous for this dish now! 04/09/2007 at 07:53pm User: Natalie from Tallahassee, FL User Rating: This is the best dish I've EVER made. I get requests for it all the time. Giada's sauce is delicious...I often just eat it plain, like a soup, it has a bite real bite to it. My husband hates pasta and olives and even he will eat this spaghetti. The spice of the red pepper and the tangyness olives is fantastic. This dish should be renamed "Party in your mouth spaghetti". It's time consuming and kinda messy, but not difficult. Classic Italian Sauce 03/22/2007 at 02:36pm User: Kristin from Lakewood, OH User Rating: Perfect flavor with a great consistency! perfect sauce 02/13/2007 at 11:51am User: sarah from ny, NY User Rating: i was looking for a basic tomato sauce (not a marinara) to go with a turkey meatball recipe that didn't come with one. i ended up using this basic recipe because of the great reviews it got specifically. indeed, it was perfectly delicious. i had never made a sauce with carrots, celery & bay but it couldn't have been better. the only thing i did differently was mixing it with a hand blender rather than putting it through a food processor. definitely try this recipe. Fantastic! 01/29/2007 at 06:44pm User: Erin from Chicago, IL User Rating: I made this last night for my husbands birthday - it was outstanding! I usually make a meat sauce with spaghetti but I did not even miss it with this recipe. A keeper! Great 12/13/2006 at 03:41pm User: C from Indianapolis, IN User Rating: It is really great!! I did a project a school a nd made this. it has great flavor! Very Good! 10/09/2006 at 10:58pm User: Carey from Deltona, FL User Rating: I made the tomato sauce without the olives and it was still very good. The only thing I would do different is add a little sugar to give it some sweet flavor. Wonderful Dish 09/19/2006 at 01:46pm User: Cheryl from Cumming, GA User Rating: This recipe is a huge hit at our house. Even my 9 year old requests it on a regular basis! This dish makes for a delicious and comforting meal. Excellent and Easy 08/02/2006 at 08:05pm User: Lisa from Dallas, TX User Rating: Very easy to make and the sauce was sooo good. Very good recipe!!! tasty but.... 07/27/2006 at 02:31pm User: Christine from Evanston, IL User Rating: ...kind of salty. Next time I'll use less olives. I'll probably make it again. LOVE the tomato sauce. mmm 07/10/2006 at 01:53am User: m from Jacksonville, FL User Rating: I liked the freshness of the tomato sauce, which I will definitely make again. The olives and red pepper were a creative rendition to traditional spaghetti. However, trying to do it all in one day was a bit labor intensive just for spaghetti. fab-u-lous 07/09/2006 at 03:10pm User: Jennifer from Tucson, AZ User Rating: easy and tasty! will make this again and again. AMAZING SAUCE 07/08/2006 at 12:55am User: Anonymous User Rating: everyone is right, this sauce is amazing. it would be sooo good on its own, but with the olives... it's just perfection! had none left over to freeze.... but i'm sure it would be just fine. i overdid it a little on the olives, and at times the dish seemed a little salty, but they're just sooo good... i used calamata olives. Wonderful 07/06/2006 at 08:37pm User: Pat from Toms River, NJ User Rating: This was a wonderful, easy dish. However, it did remind me of a "puttanesca" sauce, minus the capers. Five Star Meal 07/02/2006 at 09:06am User: Lisa from Clermont, FL User Rating: We loved it! I never thought we would enjoy a sauce without meat in it; boy was I wrong! This is definitely going in my recipe book, it is WONDERFUL! zesty! 07/01/2006 at 06:03pm User: karen from staten island, NY User Rating: i didnt expect this to taste as great as it did. it was so full of flavor and spice. my two fussy teenagers loved it! they are already asking when i will make this again.. we loved it.. sumptuous classic flavor 05/20/2006 at 06:38pm User: alan from seattle, WA User Rating: This was delicious. I think it would be great to also add in mushrooms and capers. Good stuff. 05/11/2006 at 11:14pm User: STEPHANIE from Blacksburg, VA User Rating: I made just the sauce portion of the recipe as I am not a big olive fan. It was very good. Nice to have a sauce without the added sugar of the jarred stuff. Adding butter is a neat little trick for cutting back on the acidity, thanks! I use this sauce as a base for my pasta primavera. I sautee chunky pieces of mushrooms, bell pepper, and zuccini and then add them to the sauce. The family loves it. Excellente!!! 03/30/2006 at 09:23am User: Jean from Savoy, MA User Rating: I served this to my husband and although he doesn't like any pasta without meat, he loved this one. I only used green olives as I don't like the black ones and they added a great flavor. Bonnie 03/28/2006 at 11:22pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Did not like red peppper Average 12/24/2005 at 03:11am User: terence from New York, NY User Rating: Pretty good recipe. But to be honest, the sauce is just basically Puttanesca sauce without capers. Wonderful 12/18/2005 at 05:15pm User: RaDonna from Wilmington, NC User Rating: I had a dinner party last night and everyone raved about this dish. Leftovers are wonderful also. Many copies were sent home with my guest. Will make again and again. Rich and delicious 12/16/2005 at 09:31pm User: Linda from Chicago, IL User Rating: I usually don't think much of Giada's recipes but after seeing everyone give it 5 stars I decided to give this one a go and boy was it delicious! The sauce was very rich and delicious and the vegetables gave it wonderful organic overtones. Excellent 12/15/2005 at 08:48pm User: Anonymous User Rating: this sauca was so delicious and tasty...i loved it.i recomend everyone to try this dish Who Needs Meat - Fantastic 12/15/2005 at 04:29pm User: Clyde from Bella Vista, AR User Rating: I used four different olives in the recipe - fantastic. Whoever thought you could have a good spagetti sauce without meat! Well you can with this one. wow 12/08/2005 at 10:06pm User: chelsea from sapulpa, OK User Rating: this dish is s0o0o delicious!!!! Yum! 11/29/2005 at 03:51pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I was looking for a flavorful, rich in texture tomato-based pasta sauce without meat. After trying a number of options, I found this one to be superb. The olives make for a dish that is sophisticated enough for casual entertaining and hearty enough for the occasional desire for home-cooked comfort food. It's my all-time fav for spaghetti. envious 09/14/2005 at 04:56pm User: Anonymous User Rating: very good and easy to make. Yummy 07/26/2005 at 12:08am User: Anonymous User Rating: Easy and yummy Oh Wow! 06/23/2005 at 11:46am User: Anonymous User Rating: Absolutely everything Giada makes in fabulous. This is no exception. I made this after watching her make it on tv. Really very easy and so scrumptious. I used wheat linguine and it did not detract from the taste. It was so flavorful with the olives. The sauce is divine. Thanks Giada! oarmas 06/22/2005 at 04:21pm User: Olivia from Garden grove, CA User Rating: I loved the sauce. It was easy to do. My family loved it better than the store bought tomatoe sauce. Giada has done it again. Had company over and made bowties and guess what I used for the sauce. It was a hit with everyone. Highly recommend it. Delicioso!! 05/17/2005 at 04:06pm User: DONNA from Chicago, IL User Rating: I am second generation Italian, so I KNOW good Italian food. This was tremendous. I love the simple tomato sauce on it's own, but with the olives added it was absolute heaven. Keep 'em coming Giada :) Great dinner party entree 04/30/2005 at 06:19pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Everyone raved about this dish. It was fairly easy to make if you make the tomato sauce a few days ahead of time. Very, very good! Yummy! 04/17/2005 at 11:42am User: Anonymous User Rating: Easy and Delicious! Excellent! 04/05/2005 at 05:50pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Wonderful dish! Easy to make, tastes great, healthy, and freezes well. I'll keep making this one! Olives do the trick... 03/17/2005 at 08:19pm User: Matt from Castle Rock, CO User Rating: The olives give a heartiness that can often be missing in noodles with plain marinara sauce. Perfecto! We each had third helpings... Delish 03/05/2005 at 12:56pm User: MOUSE from Santa Cruz, CA User Rating: I loved this recipe! We added a bit of browned sausage, but the olives made it a bit meaty already. We made so much, but the leftovers tasted just as perfect. My favorite pasta recipe! Awesome 01/19/2005 at 10:29pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I will make this again and again, and not change a thing. AWESOME! 01/04/2005 at 05:59pm User: STEPHANIE from Euless, TX User Rating: This was a really neat and easy dish to make, everyone really enjoyed it! For those of us who like meat, we added cooked ground beef to the mix and it was YUM! Spaghetti with Olives & Tomato Sauce 12/30/2004 at 08:47pm User: SHARON from Lake Oswego, OR User Rating: I love this sauce! I with never go back to the stuff in the jar!! I made the sauce, and at the end it was a bit acidic. She said add unsalted butter a tablespoon at a time. I thought that was odd, but tried it anyway. It worked! It totally took away the acidity. It wasn't hard, and it tastes wonderful!! Good 12/29/2004 at 03:42pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Very good. Iguess the person below me had a little too much to drink. poopy 12/20/2004 at 05:21pm User: Anonymous User Rating: poopy poopy i think food is good and this food is really good and i shouldnt know because i am a marklarck poopy pant and i dont eat a lot of food because i am a stuipid head Yummy! 12/07/2004 at 09:38am User: Anonymous User Rating: As I sit here munching on the cold leftovers, all I can say is YUMMY! Another tasty recipe from Giada (as usual). I did make a minor change to the tomato sauce. I like my sauce a bit sweeter so I added a couple tablespoons of brown sugar. It just helped to cut down on the acidity. I also added 2T of butter as she recommended. The olives added to the sauce were fantastic - both my husband and I loved this dish. Watching the show is key 06/15/2004 at 09:51pm User: JENN from Valrico, FL User Rating: I made this recipe after watching this episode- She gives meaning behind her methods which I enjoyed. As for the actual recipe- very easy to make and has great flavor from the olives! |
