Lotta Flavor 11/18/2006 at 02:26pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I've enjoyed many recipes from the Barefoot Contessa cookbook, this being no exception. Not exotic and not at all complicated. Have recommended this recipe to friends. beat these beets 08/22/2007 at 11:39am User: Peggy from Alexandria, VA User Rating: This was such a different way with beets. Impressed my family. Would have had 5 stars if I'd used fresh beets instead of canned. Will do that next time. It looked great but didn't turn out well... 08/21/2007 at 07:39pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I really thought this recipe was going to be a great hit, but it was disappointing. I followed the instructions to the letter and was really disappointed with the result. Purple, Red & Orange Glory 05/11/2004 at 05:27pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Quick, easy, beautiful colors, inexpensive and yummy! Gotta like beets..... 04/24/2007 at 12:22pm User: Kathleen from Yuba City, CA User Rating: if you want to like this recipe. If you don't like them, why try this. If you try anyway, don't be surprised if you don't like it!! Conversely, my husband and I both like them very much--and this was a hit! I would never have thought to put oranges with beets, but this really works. I did notice that it was pretty sharp right after putting it together, but it was 30 minutes before dinner and by then the flavors had melded and were wonderful. The last couple of tablespoons will be part of my lunch today. To avoid a huge amount of leftovers, I did cut the amount of beets to one can, but I only cut the oranges and the dressing in half. Way to go!! Absolutely Delicious 04/19/2007 at 08:18pm User: Barbara from Camarillo, CA User Rating: This was incredible. I made it again with pineapple....also wonderful. Try it. Love you, Ina. Keep up the good work. Barbara, Camarillo, CA Different and refreshing 04/02/2007 at 03:51pm User: Glenna from Napoleon, OH User Rating: This salad is not only different, delicious and so easy and quick. OMG 03/12/2008 at 11:10pm User: Dayle from Upland, CA User Rating: I substituted grapefruit for the oranges and added avocado. It was awesome!!! Fabulous 02/11/2008 at 03:43am User: Kelly from Buffalo, NY User Rating: At first when I read this recipe I thought this was a strange combination of ingredients but loving beets the way I do I gave it a try. I am so glad that I did. What a wonderful flavor, and a beautiful dish. I will make this many times in the future! Great salad change 02/07/2007 at 01:31pm User: Vicky from Tucson, AZ User Rating: Beets with orange vinaigrette was a great combination and change. Very refreshing. I will make this again. Beautiful! 02/06/2007 at 02:21pm User: Marc from valencia, CA User Rating: I've actually never prepared beets before, but this recipe changed that. As recommended in the Barefoot Contessa cookbook, I prepared the salad days in advance and would recommend doing so. The end product was a light, fruity salad that presented beautifully -- a nice complement to the rich pasta dish with which it was served. I roasted fresh beets for the salad, but will probably try canned beets in the future. Pretty Good 01/16/2007 at 07:23pm User: jackie from ada, MI User Rating: I thought this salad was pretty good. I used half the beets so the beet/orange ratio was nice. I felt the dressing was not acidic enough to compliment the beets. I will try again and use lemon juice instead of the orange juice. Simple, yet tasty 01/16/2005 at 08:33am User: Anonymous User Rating: This recipe can be made year round and adds beautiful color and flavour to any meal. Easy to make but TASTES BAD 01/15/2005 at 08:05pm User: ELIZABETH from San jose, CA User Rating: This was easy to make but it did not taste good at all. Yummy beets 01/13/2007 at 11:56am User: Anonymous User Rating: I think this recipe is great! The onions were a little stong to me so next time I will give them a quick sautee before adding them. So good. Flavor, Color and Nutrition too 01/11/2007 at 11:22am User: Maria from Jacksonville, OR User Rating: tried this one last night. surprisingly good. I will grate the onions next time though. Family liked it too even though dh is not a beet fan. Delicious 01/10/2006 at 12:23pm User: Donnie from Bryan, TX User Rating: I made this without salt and olive oil and it is still great Best Beets 01/10/2005 at 03:51pm User: Anonymous User Rating: This is a refreshing salad that is very simple to make and can keep in the refrig all week. I didn't have raspberry vinegar and used wine vinegar instead. It tasted wonderful. very bad 01/08/2007 at 10:28pm User: Anonymous User Rating: I saw this on the show and thought it would be really good, followed the recipe to a t,it was so bad that I fed it to the garbage disposal.Cook from Bellevue Washington Beets, beets, and more beets! 01/08/2006 at 09:19pm User: BILL from Washington, DC User Rating: You have to REALLY like beets to like this recipe. It's pretty much all beets and it makes a huge amount. As a household of one, I'll be eating it all week--at least! Flavor is ok, but really...it's just all beets! Excellent flavor! 01/07/2007 at 04:43pm User: gail from nashotah, WI User Rating: We love beets, and this was a very nice dish. I used steamed, fresh beets instead of canned. I think it was unfair for people to give this recipe a low rating just because it had a lot of beets - that's exactly what it was - a BEET dish! Nice balance of flavors 01/06/2007 at 05:34pm User: SARAH from Hidden Valley, CA User Rating: I really liked this. The red onion is great with the oranges. I didn't have raspberry vinegar so I used balsamic and I liked it a lot. OK but not great 01/06/2007 at 01:01am User: Kathy from Baton Rouge, LA User Rating: I halved the recipe since I'm the only person in the family that likes beets. It was OK, but like other reviews, it's just a lot of beets! A few bites go a long way. The orange was a nice touch, and I found that adding this to a salad was very good, especially with a nice vinagrette. Beets are cool 01/04/2005 at 08:16am User: JEANNINE from whitehouse station, NJ User Rating: I learned to appreciate beets....never really cared for them but this recipe makes them taste sweet and yummy. Ina is right, the flavor gets better over a few days in the fridge. Worth a try if you don't really like beets. Yummy 01/03/2005 at 06:09pm User: Anonymous User Rating: Light and tasty |
