Last thanksgiving my parents decided to have the meal at my house. I can't cook-really can't cook. This recipe literally saved the meal! It was quick and the turkey was finished ALOT quicker than my grandma's recipe of 14 hours of basting and getting up all hours of the night to check on the turkey. It was so moist and juicy, I've been asked every visit to make it again!

the best I ever had

I made this turkey - and I'm new to the whole "turkey baking" thing - this was the second bird I've ever made. I like to cook - but turkeys seem intimitating to perfect. However, this recipe was so easy, and tasted so good. Everyone loved it, I was very impressed w/ how it came out. The lemon is just the right compliment to the other spices.

perfectly delicious

It was a good recipe. I didn't feel that it changed the flavor much from other recipes that I have tried.

I always use Ina's perfect roasted chicken recipe which is basically the same recipe for this turkey except with a whole chicken. I loved it. Instead of using a whole turkey I just used a turkey breast. It cooked in less time and it was great!

Foolproof Bird!

I made this turkey last night (along with Ina's spinach gratin), and it was absolutely delicious! Everyone raved on and on about how moist and flavorful it was. My bird was 12 lbs., and was done in about 2 hours and 20 minutes. It would be virtually impossible to mess up this recipe.

Ina's best roast turkey

I served this recipe adding rosemary to the turkey before cooking. Everyone at the dinner party couldn't believe how moist and delicious the turkey was. A must try!!!!

Made this for 15 on Thanksgiving using a 22 lb. Turkey. Cooked in convection oven for just 2 1/2 hours. Perfect. Will use again for Christmas Day!

This is so tasty and so easy. Thanks Ina! My husband just told me "you're a great cook". Never thought I'd hear those words. The only thing that I noticed is that it only took 2 hours for the juices to run clear, and internal temp. was 170 f. So cooking time can vary.

The BEST turkey with the least amount of work ever, bar none!!! I made sure I used an ORGANIC turkey and it had the best flavor, it did not taste gamey like the other turkeys do. Thanks Ina.

This was my very first time cooking a turkey, and it came out amazingly moist and delicious! I was so afraid that I was going to ruin it, but I just followed directions and it came out perfectly! I just adjusted the cooking time because I used a 17-pound turkey. I'll definitely use this recipe again next Thanksgiving!

Fabulous!

This recipe is good for any size turkey! Just adjust the cooking time to the weight of the turkey using the golden rule of 1 pound per every 15 minutes, and also a meat thermometer (in the end). Your turkey will come out moist and very flavorful! I used this recipe last year (2003), and will gladly use it again this year (2004). You can even roast the turkey upside down (as a mistake) and it will still taste wonderful. Just make sure the legs are tied to begin with. It's a PERFECT recipe for those of us gourmet chefs who prefer to cook our stuffing separately as a side dish too. Enjoy!

Best Turkey Ever

I've made a lot of turkeys and this was by far the best tasting turkey I have ever had. Everyone loved it. I'm not a huge turkey fan, cause the meat is usually dry, but this recipe worked fantastic, and the sauce is amazing. I wasn't sure about the fennel, but now this is the only way I will ever prepare my thanksgiving meal. Thank you, Ina. :)

It IS Perfect!

Though I'm not an inexperienced cook, this was my first-ever roast turkey. The bird was so juicy and moist, my guests couldn't stop saying it was the best bird they'd ever eaten! When I took the giblets out, I simmered them in a small pot with chicken stock from a carton. I used the broth to basted the turkey only twice during cooking, as it did not release a lot of liquid to self-baste. I chopped the cooked liver and put it in with wild rice and apricots as a side dish. In addition, I placed the bird on carrots and celery stalks instead of putting the bird on a roasting rack. When I cooked the bones later for stock, I threw the carrots and celery in, too. This turkey is so good, you won't want to waste anything, either!

I saw the show where Ina prepared this recipe and I wanted to try it so I volunteered to make New Year's dinner. My whole family tried the turkey and loved it.
