A Great Staple

This is my first food review. I have made this granola regularly for several years both on land and while cruising on our boat. We eat it almost daily with yoghurt (often made at home too), and have provided many friends with the recipe. The only change I make is to add less salt, or omit the salt altogether.

I just made this Granola today and it is simply Delicious! You do have to watch it so it does not burn. It does harden once it's out of the oven and there's no need to keep it in longer than 20 minutes. If at all take it out a little before 20 minutes and it will be fine! Victoria*~

Fabulous recipe!!!!!!

I make this almost every week, and it is my favorite! I used to buy granola for my yogurt and for my husband for breakfast, but not anymore! I take the base and add a variety of fruit (I tweak is to make it at least 2 cups of dried fruit). One week was currants, apples, apricots, and berries and the next week was peaches, apricots, and apples. Since it is fall now, I have switched out the cinammon for pumpkin pie spice. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination and tastes. Thanks for a great recipe that has become a staple in our house.

Wonderful recipe, and as another reviewer said, it's VERY versatile. I made it as is, but I can't wait to try more variations. This granola is wonderful with yogurt, but I eat it right out of the canister I put it in. SO yummy, flavorful, crunchy, and HEALTHY!! LOVE IT!

This is an easy granola recipe. I use it for breakfast with yogurt, use it for dessert with fresh berries and whipped cream. My whole family loves it!

It's got a sweet crunch and is very satisfying and healthy too. We all like healthy. You can make a batch and put it in a ziplock bag and carry it in your purse or bag for that sudden urge to eat.

I have found that you can use really any combination of nuts that you prefer in the same quantities, it makes it a nice variation.

Granola was on the dry side, but very tasty. Next time I may cut down on the dry ingredients, oats, nuts, etc.

Tasty but cut the salt

This is an easy and delicious granola. I added dried appricots as well. The only thing I suggest be changed is the salt. It isn't necessary and it makes the granola too salty. I leave it out now and the granola is fine.

Best Granola EVER!

This is so, so good. This recipe makes granola so easy and delicious, I will never buy it from a store again. Used dried cherries instead of cranberries, substituted golden raisins for the regular raisins and dates, and omitted the pumpkin seeds. Wonderful with milk or yogurt. I would even put this on top of ice cream.

I have tried so-o-o- many brands of granola searching for a topping for yogurt...even the bulk granolas in natural food stores. Nothing ever satisfied me. THIS recipe fits the bill!!! Add more fruits and use a fine flavored honey...this is IT!!!

Even with the unsalted butter, it was a little too salty for our tastes. Cut salt back to 1/4 t. I used some barley flakes and wheat flakes for part of the oatmeal to give it more texture, and I also added dried apricots and apples. We like a lot of 'stuff' in our granola. Excellent basic recipe though....
