To make it creamier, I used substituted cubed Velveeta type cheese for the shredded sharp Cheddar cheese.

IT WAS GOOD BUT IT NEEDS TO HAVE A CHEESE THAT IS NOT AS STRONG COMBINED WITH IT.

very good mac and cheese but needed a little something to keep it from tasting dry. other then that me and my family loved it.

The mac and cheese was tasty but not creamy. Okay, but I'm still on the hunt for something creamy.

Easy but bland

This was super easy to make, but very bland...even after adding extra spices.

This is literally the exact recipe my boyfriends mother makes. It's simple and tasty. I highly suggest eating it with a bit of cranberry sauce, sounds weird, but it really is delicious.

Delicious

Believe it or not, this was the first time I tried to make macaroni and cheese that didn't come from the box. Me and my huband liked it so much I don't think I will buy it from the box anymore! The only thing was that I needed to add more salt to the roux than what I did. It was delicious!

i made this recipe hoping to make something delicious for my family... and it lacked in flavor, and it dried it out a bit too much... it needs to be creamier and needs something else for flavor

Tooooo Dry

User: Anonymous    User Rating:
Granted I'm new to making homemade mac and cheese but this was absolutely the driest mac and cheese I've ever had. I was so disappointed after reading the reviews. There was absolutely no "sauce" and I even added cubes of cheese and nutmeg. I don't recommend this unless you like dry noodles with a hint of cheese. I'll go back to the blue box. :(

Dry mac & cheese

My opinion is there were too many noodles for the amounts of the remaining ingredients. Next time I'd cut the noodles in half or add heavy cream and more cheese..

Easy & very good Mac & Cheese

I was able to make this recipe at very short notice and my family thought I was amazing! Few ingredients helped a lot, I would maybe add a bit more cheddar, but if not it taste's just as good. I guess it depends on how much cheddar flavor you like,I LOVE cheese. I would and am making this again, You should try it, you will like how easy and how good it taste's.

Wouldn't make again

I used more cheese than recommended, but then again, I really like cheese. I also spread the cheese over the top BEFORE baking in the oven. I liked this better because the cheese on top got a little brown, just like I like it.

Very good

This recipe makes mac and cheese easy. I know this may be a culinary no, no...but I added some Velveeta cheese to this recipe along with the sharp. It makes it very creamy!!

I am not the most talented cook and I found this recipe really easy and do-able. It was good, solid comfort food but just didn't have a whole lot of flavor to it. I will probably make it again and tweak the recipe a little.

I usually love all of Tyler's recipes. Haven't made one that I don't love until tonight. I made this and the texture was gritty and not that flavorful either. All my kids said please bring back teh store bought. Sorry Tyler this was not great for us!

velveeta

the only thing I would do different is sub 1/v. velveeta making the recipe 1 1/2 c. sharp cheese and 1/2 c. velveeta makes it creamier

MMMMMMMM! This is a great Mac & Cheese recipe! I have used it for several pot lucks, and holiday get togethers. It always gets compliments. The cheese is blended perfectly and I always let the top get good and brown when it bakes, this adds a great texture. You can't go wrong with this simple delicious recipe.

I have made this for a couple of years and lately my cheese sauce gets all lumpy. Like I scorched the milk or something, even if I cook it low. But when it turns out it is the best mac and cheese I've ever had.

User: Kellie from Cocoa Beach, FL    User Rating:
I had an almost identical recipe a few years back that I lost; the only difference was to add finely chopped onions to the butter, which is what I did with this recipe. The onions seem to add that extra "oomph" the sauce needs. Delicious!

I watched this episode of food 911. It was the first time I watched and it got me hooked. The first time I used this recipe it didn't come out right, because I got the measurements wrong. But man when I got them right it was great. My husband is so glad that I learned how to make real mac and cheese. Now he won't have it from a box.

Big hit!

Mabye I did something wrong but I used the amounts it called for and it came out dry, with not enough cheese sauce. I even added more cheese at the end of the baking time then what was called for and it still came out dry.If I make this again I will use more milk & cheese.

Not what I expected, I even added more cheese and still tasted almost like that popular "s" brand in your grocery store freezer. I like that but I wanted a more homemade taste like my mother made.
