Have outdoor fondue.
Get your guests cooking! Chop all the ingredients ahead of time and set up hibachi grills where your fellow partiers can cook their own meat, fish and veggies. Don't forget the chocolate fondue and fresh fruit for dessert.
Color the frosting. Put frosting in three bowls. Add a few drops of red food color to one, and a few drops of blue food color to the second. Leave the third white.
Start decorating! Spread a layer of icing over the cupcakes with a butter knife. You can choose one color for each cupcake, or try adding a few stars and stripes. Add colored sugar or sprinkles, candy stars, nonpareils or even miniature flags or fireworks.
